Mozambique Safari Itineraries by Mozambique Odyssey

As a tailor making holiday company the very word package sends shivers down our spines. Below however, you will ironically find a number of tailor made 'packages' for you to have a look at.

These itineraries are without doubt fantastic holidays but they should be used in conjunction with this website as a basis to start designing your trip. The lodges on this site and on these itineraries are the best on offer but they are very different in their own individual way, in character and atmosphere. It is important to remember that some clients like lodges that others do not find so appealing.

The key to creating a trip that can genuinely exceed your expections is to spend time chatting to us over the phone and, if possible, coming in for a presentation. It is in this way that we can find out excatly what it is that you are looking for, what you are like and ultimately which of these lodges will suit you. We cannot stress enough the importance of this....it is without the best way to design your ideal trip.

Below you will find three itineraries. The first, 'Mozambique's finest beaches' is purely an itinerary designed for a beach lover. The second, 'Two countries, two different experiences' is an itinerary that shows how easy it is to link up safari in Tanzania with the Quirimbas Archipelago. The final itinerary, 'Okavango and Azure Blue Seas' is an itinerary that pulls in Botswana and the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago.

All the photos on this page correspond to the text they are beside. If you have any questions regarding any of these itineraries please do not hesitate to get in touch with one of our consultants. Tel +44 (0) 20 7471 8780 or Email Us.

'Mozambique's finest beaches

Day 1 and 2

Met on arrival in Jo'Burg and flown to Maputo. Met on arrival and transferred to the Polanna Hotel for 2 nights. This hotel is one of the most impressive hotels in Africa, commanding superb views over the bay infront...service levels are without doubt the best in Maputo

Day 3 to 7

This morning you will be flown to Vilanculos, the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago. A connecting flight then will fly you to Marlin Lodge on Bazaurto Island for the first of 5 nights at the lodge. Diving, snorkeling, realaxing etc etc. R&R does not get much batter than this!

Day 8 to 13

This morning you will be flown up the coast to the Quirimbas Archipelago, just off the Tanzanian border. On arrival in Pemba you will be helicopter transferred to Quilalea Island for 6 nights at Quilalea. The lodge is a dramatic contrast to the sand dunes of Bazaruto; perfection in a beach idyll.

Day 14

This morning you will be transferred back to your international flight home

Two countries; two different experiences

In many ways a safari in Tanzania is the logical combination to the islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago. With a very short flight time from Dar Es Salaam on the Tanzanian coast, the islands are a great end to a safari in Tanzania's Southern Parks of Selous and Ruaha. The Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater are also easy combinations. Time is not wasted travelling.

Day 1 to 3

On arrival in Dar Es Salaam on the Tanzanian coast you will be met and flown down the coast by private charter to Ras Kutani, a polynesian style beach hideaway mercifully devoid of other people. Three days are best spent here doing nothing but relaxing.

Days 4 to 7

After a short flight back to Dar Es Salaam you will be flown into the Selous Game Reserve for 4 nights at Selous Safari Camp. Having had an expensive refurb in late 2005, the camps now offers exceptional value for money in an area teaming with game. Days are spent game driving, walking in the bush or sipping G&T's down the Rufigi River.....it is a superb camp.

Days 8 to 13

In late 2006 flights are scheduled to fly directly from the Selous to Pemba but for now acces is via a short flight to Dar Es Salaam and then a direct flight into Mozambique,s northern hub Pemba. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Pemba Beach Hotel for the night before being flown down to the Maluane Projects flagship Vamizi, a breathtaking lodge on a 13km long island inhabited by one village. The beach alone here is 8 km long. There are only 12 rooms.

Day 14

On your final day you will be met and transferred to your flight to Dar Es Salaam where you will stay the night at the Royal Palm before being transferred to your international flight home.

Okavango and Azure Blue Seas

The Okavango Delta is home to some of the continents most diverse wildlife and stunning safari environment. This trip includes a couple of days relaxing at Victoria Falls to start with, three days in one of the Delta camps, three days in the Linyanti Concession of Botswana and finally just less than a week on Bazaruto Island. It is a serious itinerary with rather serious prices!

Days 1 to 3

On arrival in Jo'Burg you will be met and flown up to Livingstone on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls where you will be transferred by road to the River Club which looks over a wide strech of the Zambezi. From here you can visit the Falls themselves, look for game up and down the Zambezi or simply relax in what is a superb lodge.

Days 4 to 6

This morning you will be flown to the Linyanti Concession in Northern Botswana. The area is well known for superb concentrations of predators and large herds of elephants along with a wide selection of other game. Accommodation here is at Savuti Camp - what we believe to be one of the best safari lodges in the country

Days 7 to 9

This morning you will be flown into the Okvanago Delta and transferred to Jao, one of the Delta's most impressive water camps. Days are spent punting in makoro's (dug out canoes) around lillie scattered flood plains looking for game. Game driving and walking safaris are also available

Days 10 to 15

After one night in Jo'Burg you will be flown to Vilanculos. On arrival you will be flown to Bazaruto Island and transferred to Benguerra. The next few days are yours to do absolutely nothing! There are however lots of strenuous activities to choose from if you wish!! Benguerra is a truly fantastic lodge!

Day 16

This morning you will be flown back to Jo'Burg your international flight home
